Lindung 24 Jam optional for locals, mandatory for foreign workers
11 October 2026 · Effective 22 June 2025
PERKESO's Lindung 24 Jam scheme, which extends social security coverage beyond workplace injuries, has been made optional for Malaysian and permanent resident workers following public feedback. Workers who wish to opt out must complete an exemption form. Foreign workers remain compulsorily enrolled. A grace period for non-compliant employers was set until 22 June. Separately, 17 individuals including company directors have been charged over Daya Kerjaya 2.0 fraud, signalling active enforcement. Employers should confirm their workforce composition and process any opt-out forms received from local employees promptly.
